WORLD MISSION

As well as focusing on reaching out to our local community with the love of Christ, we are also keen to be involved in what God is doing in the wider world. We have regular visits to Services by speakers directly engaged in World Mission in various forms. We usually take part in “Bibles for the Persecuted” and similar programs. We have a ‘Missions Committee’ of interested people who meet monthly to pray for God’s Mission and receive updates from various agencies. These meetings are open to all, and happen at 2:00pm on the second Tuesday of each month at the St. John's Office. We hold a monthly soup and sandwich luncheon, whose proceeds go towards the particular “Mission of the Month”, of which we support ABM, BCA, CMS, Christian Blind Mission, Devonport Chaplaincy, Leprosy Mission, International Needs, and Nungalinya College.

We currently support a sponsor child through International Needs, and our Sunday Night group helps support a foster child through Compassion. The Parish supports Devonport Chaplaincy, and other Combined Churches activities. Some of our members are engaged in schools mentoring, and in the recent past we provide parking for the Driver-mentor program cars, and the cars of the Mentors whilst they are supervising learner drivers. People are encouraged to attend the annual CMS Summer Conference at Port Sorell.
