End of Rev John Tongue's ministry
It is with much sadness, some trepidation, and a degree of excitement that I announced to the Parish today (Sep 6th) that my time of ministry here in Devonport is coming to a conclusion.  You can read more detail here, but I feel the time has come for Devonport Anglican Church to benefit from new and different ministry skills than those I have been able to offer over the last six and a half years.  Towards the end of the year, the family and I will be moving to Launceston, where I have accepted the position of Associate Minister at Holy Trinity, working alongside Devonport's current Parish Consultant, Dane Courtney.  There are still things to be sorted out, but we pray the Lord continues to lead and bless all of us in this new phase.  John

Note:  BIG NEWS - Covid-19 Drastically affects operations.  See our "Services" and "News" pages for further details.  Also, the Diocesan Web Page gives the Bishop's Pastoral Letter and recent updates, as well as how to link in with some live-streamed Sunday Services from around the Diocese.

We began offering a 'Streamed' Service each Sunday, starting on 29.3.20.  These streamed Services can be viewed live, or reviewed later, via our Facebook Page.

We streamed our first Service from St. John's, then for a number of weeks, they came from the Rectory.

We will continue with the Streamed and Phone-in option until Nov. 29.  After that, there will be no "tech" services from Devonport Anglican Church until the new minister begins and decides how to proceed.

To view Services on Facebook, visit our Page.  A direct link to each Sunday's video will be added after the event.  We will keep some of these for a time, but will eventually be deleted.  Those that are still available are:  29.3.20; Good Friday (Combined Churches event); 12.4.20 (Easter Day); 10.5.20  HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY!!  24.5.20; Pentecost - 31.5.20 (and the additional one of the All-age Demonstration); Trinity Sunday (7.6.20); Pentecost 2 14.6.20; Pentecost 3 21.6.20; 28.6.20; 5.7.20; 12.7.20; 19.7.20; 26.7.20; 2.8.20; 9.8.20; 16.8.20; 23.8.20; 30.8.20; 6.9.20; 20.9.20; 27.9.20; 4.10.20; 11.10.20; 18.10.20; 25.10.20; 1.11.20; 8.11.20; 15.11.20; 22.11.20; 29.11.20 (Our last Streamed Service for the time being).

Welcome to the site for Devonport Anglican Church. We are the Anglican Parish for the City of Devonport in Northern Tasmania. We fit within the Anglican Diocese of Tasmania, and work to fulfill our part of the wider Diocesan Vision.

Within that, we have our own specific Parish Vision – to be a “3D Church – Disciples of Jesus, Discipling Devonport”. The specifics of our Parish Vision and Strategies we employ in attempting to fulfill that Vision can be downloaded as a PDF booklet.

We are a ‘mainstream’ Anglican Church, theologically evangelical, biblically orthodox, and seeking to reach our wider community. Our “Age Profile” is more senior, but we are working hard to connect with people from all segments of society. We would love you to feel welcome to come and join us. Updates and regular events can also be found on our Facebook Page.  If you have "Big Questions" about life, feel free to check out the next page, as well as exploring the rest of our Website.
